On October 6, 2023, the 18th National Mobile Crane Safety Driving Competition, organized by the Japan Crane Association, was held at the Japan Crane Association Crane Training Center in Koto City, Tokyo.

Seven operators who advanced through regional qualifying rounds competed in the event. Representing NSS were operator Akio Ishino (Kyoto Branch representative) and operator Hideki Shibagaki (Shiga Branch representative).

As a result of the competition, operator Akio Ishino won first place, while operator Hideki Shibagaki earned second place.

NSS had previously achieved a one-two finish at the national competition 30 years ago, making this a remarkable accomplishment for the first time in three decades.
Despite making their first appearance at the national competition, both operators have written a new chapter in NSS history.
Congratulations to both of them on this outstanding achievement!

Reflecting on the competition with great joy, first-place winner operator Akio Ishino said, “I told everyone at the company, ‘I’m definitely going to win!’ (some even called it a case of big talk! (laughs)). But I’m truly happy that I was able to share good news with the senior colleagues, junior colleagues, and family members who supported me. Thank you all for your many words of encouragement.”

We will continue to support the competition’s objective of improving mobile crane operating skills, raising safety awareness, and helping to prevent workplace accidents involving cranes and related equipment.
